Birthday Banner

I am a big fan of birthday banners. I think we have 4 or so that appear around birthdays at our house. I made this one for a good friend as a gift for her new baby. It was a last minute idea, but I ended up being very pleased with it. I thought the idea of a birthday banner for a baby gift was a good one - something unexpected and handmade. To save time, I didn't sew on the letters, though that would be a lovely touch; I used hot-glue instead.

Box aquarium

I got this idea from Made by Joel, a great blog that is full of clever ideas. The look of this aquarium really appealed to me, and I thought Calvin would really think it was interesting. The box itself only lasted for a day (because it was carted around quite a bit), but the little aquarium creatures are still swimming around in our home.
